Sensational Spring
Welcome Back!
Miss Cavill and Mrs Robertson have enjoyed welcoming all of the children back to school after the Christmas break! This week we have looked at the book 'Dear Zoo'. The children have been writing sentences recapping the skills that we learnt last term.
Maths
This week in maths, the children have been exploring numbers 11-20. They have been understanding how many 10s and 1s make up each number. This has helped them to build strong foundations in place value.
They have also been comparing numbers, ordering numbers and estimating on a number line!
Writing
In writing, the children have been focusing on creating a setting description for Hansel and Gretel. They have been building and practising writing sentences, developing their ideas and vocabulary to help them describe the candy house.
RE
Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed a special workshop exploring the traditions of Hinduism. The children learned about important symbols, stories and celebrations, and had the chance to see and handle artefacts used in worship.
DT
Year 1 and Year 2 have been busy in DT designing and making their own moving vehicles. The children explored different types of wheels and axles before creating their own models.
Geography
On Monday 9th March, Y1 and Y2 went to Pink Pig Farm. In geography, we are learning about where our food comes from. The children met Farmer Chris who gave us a tour of the farm. They then fed the animals and sat in a tractor. After lunch the children got to play in the park. We had an amazing day!
Dance Showcase
On Thursday 19th March, 13 children took part in the Get Ahead Dance Showcase at the Baths Hall. The children danced to a mix of songs from Matilda the Musical. All children worked very hard to learn the dance during dance club. We are very proud of everyone, they did amazing and had lots of fun!
