Sensational Spring
What a sensational start back to school! It has been a pleasure to welcome the children back into school this week. They have already wroked their socks off! We have identified the villainous witch in our story of Hansel and Gretel and we cannot wait to get stuck into our character descriptions.
On Thursday this week, we welcomed Sarah Tipler from Words Count to talk to our parents about the benefits of reading at home to and with your children can be. Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended. The children loved listening to Supertato and enjoyed creating their own superheroes in the activities afterwards.
What a witch!!!
Year Two have been reading the classic fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel. They have focused on the character of the witch and what a horrid woman she was to lure the children to her house. They have developed their ability to describe a character in more precise detail using a range of high-level descriptive vocabulary. I think you will agree, the children have done an amazing job. Read their descriptions below!
Money, Money, Money!
The last two weeks in Maths year two have been learning all about money. What the different coins and notes are worth, how to make different combinations of money using coins and how to calculate with money. The children have enjoyed finding different ways to pay for items in a shop.
Hitting those targets!
This week, the children welcomed the chance to have a go at both curling and archery. All of the children loved firing the arroows at the targets and they showed great resilience during the session as it really wasn't easy for small hands. Well done Year Two.
Pink Pig Farm
On Monday 9th March, Y1 and Y2 went to Pink Pig Farm. In geography, we are learning about where our food comes from. The children met Farmer Chris who gave us a tour of the farm. They then fed the animals and sat in a tractor. After lunch the children got to play in the park. We had an amazing day!
Dance Showcase
On Thursday 19th March, 13 children took part in the Get Ahead Dance Showcase at the Baths Hall. The children danced to a mix of songs from Matilda the Musical. All children worked very hard to learn the dance during dance club. We are very proud of everyone, they did amazing and had lots of fun!
